Mike Rodgers teaches aural from Grade 1 to Grade 8. Mike is a piano teacher at The Yorkshire College of Music & Drama in Leeds LS2, and is the official accompanist for examinations held at the college. He holds the Diploma in Piano Performing awarded by the ABRSM.
Matthew Lazenby teaches aural from Grade 1 to Grade 6, either by appointment at The Yorkshire College of Music & Drama in Leeds LS2, or at a student's home. Matthew holds the Grade 8 Piano certificate from the ABRSM and a BA in Music from the University of Leeds.
The main music examining boards test aural skills in various different ways - for example, by asking students to identify rhythm or pitch changes in a sample of music played by the examiner on a piano, or to describe a piece of music played by the examiner.
Many music teachers rehearse aural tests with their students, but not all teachers of orchestral instruments have a piano in their studio. For students whose teachers do not cover aural skills, the piano teachers and pianists featured below can give ad hoc lessons on aural training, particularly prior to an examination.
